Hello again from our Studio
. In this post you will find the upcoming events so you don´t miss out a session. See you soon!
27 April 2026: (Re)Inventing Slovakia: Ethnographic Photo Archives (1890–1945)

In our second session of the Summer Semester 2026, Valéria Bláha, PhD candidate at Masaryk University in Brno, will present insights into her doctoral research. Her project examines three ethnographic photo archives that were gradually assembled from the late 19th century until the outbreak of the Second World War.
Through these archives, the project analyzes formations, shifts, and continuities of Slovak national identity during times of political upheaval and territorial change, as well as the dynamic interplay between state authorities, local intelligentsia, and everyday cultural perspectives.
18 May 2026: Fragmentation, Reassembly, Mapping, and Play in Parisian Artistic Practices and Film: 1950s–1990s

In this session, Arina Rod, PhD candidate in Art History, will present her doctoral research. Her current dissertation project investigates Paris-based artistic and cinematic practices from the 1950s to the 1990s that engage with the city through walking and play in order to challenge dominant urban narratives. Arina will share her current reflections and discuss possible movements and strategies for intertwining theoretical questions—with writing as storytelling, visual media analysis, topographic research, and an interest in the aesthetics of more-than-textual research formats.
